Burnout & Compassion Fatigue
Healing for individuals, couples, and families in Boone and across North Carolina.
Being all-in and fully engaged in an activity (work, school, sport, etc.) can really weigh on you, even when it is meaningful and started off as incredibly rewarding.
Slowly, you find yourself wanting to avoid your passions or commitments because you feel physically fatigued, emotionally exhausted, and numb. You feel disconnected from others, yourself, and the activity you used to love. Maybe you even feel like there is no more left to give.
Burnout and compassion fatigue can steal the joy from your life, but it is not the end of the story. We can work together in therapy to deconstruct the situation and develop a better approach to pursuing a life where you thrive (not just survive).
Examples of who might experience compassion fatigue and burnout:
- Person living with chronic health conditions
- Caregiver for friends or family members who are living with acute or chronic health conditions
- Parents or guardians of children and teens
- Professional caregiver
- Healthcare worker (examples: physician, nurse, therapist, pharmacist, billing specialist, administrator)
- Teacher or educational administrator
- Veterinarian
- Manufacturing worker
